The Dragonfly spinnign disk confocal microscope has been upgraded to Fusion 2.7. The new Fusion has greatly improved the workflow for ‘Montage’ (image tile-scanning) setup. It now also provides ‘Focus Map’, which allows focus setup along an undulating tissue section and ensures good focus all through the stitched image.
In addition, Fusion 2.7 includes in it a ‘Mosaic’ module for photostimulation, photoactivation, photobleaching, etc.. A 445nm diode laser is used for those purposes.
Please note, user's own channel and protocol settings for the older Fusion 2.3 that are kept in 'Fusion User Data' folder in his or her own space are not valid for Fusion 2.7. Before opening the Fusion 2.7 for the first time, a user should refresh the 'fusion user data' folder with the one in 'BackupDisk' drive.
The user interface of Fusion 2.7 is a little different from the previous Fusion 2.3. Current users should be able to figure out how to acquire images with the new Fusion 2.7 without much difficulty. We would be glad to answer any questions you may have. We are also glad to help you set up ‘Montage’ or ‘Mosaic’ if you need. Please email: lmcf@duke.edu .
With the updated version, Fusion also starts more quickly than the older Fusion 2.3.
