Capabilities

  • Optical trapping of beads or protein or membrane complexes
  • Confocal imaging  between two optical traps with 488nm and 561nm lasers
  • DNA–binding protein experiments: Study molecular mechanisms involved in DNA organization, repair, replication, transcription, and RNA translation.
  • Others: Protein folding; Cytoskeleton structure and transport; Mechanobiology.
  • Phase separation.
  • Immuno-oncology.

Cost

$40 per hour

Priority User Statement

The LUMICKS C-trap was purchased with a shared instrumentation grant. Major and minor users receive priority training and usage access. We are glad to welcome other users during other time including external users. Please contact the director or lmcf@duke.edu. We will review this policy as the use of the system develops to ensure the system serves its intended use and also more general use in the most efficient manner.
