System crashes and reboots

The microscope systems contain a lot of electronics that sometimes goes wrong. When this happens rebooting generally fixes the problem, here are some tips . . .

When the Leica SP5 confocal crashes -

If you have data acquired but not saved -

Try closing and reopening the software (There is temp file for recovery that is lost if you restart the computer)

If you don't have data that might be lost or if the program won't quit nicely -

a) Shut down the computer from the start menu
b) Turn off switch 4 then switch 3 (no need to reset the lasers)
c) Wait a few seconds then switch on switch 3 then switch 4
d) Login and boot up like normal

MetaMorph doesn't see a camera -

Close MetaMorph

Power cycle the camera (eg turn off and on the ORCA camera controller box or the camera itself for the live cell scope cameras)
Reopen MetaMorph
